Flores and Tikal

Flores and Tikal
Flores
Flores had little tricycle taxis they are funny looking, I wanted to go in one but mom said no we can walk. Flores is very small it only takes about 20 mins to walk around all of it.

Washing clothes and bathing on the lake

the jungle lodge where we stayed
We got to Tikal late in the day so we stayed at one of the hotels called the jungle lodge. Before we ate supper we went for a swim in our underwear and mom almost got pooped on by a monkey!!!

monkey poop they almost pooped on mom

We started our day, we woke up at 345am!! We had ordered a bagged breakfast from the restaurants kitchen we went and got it and had some coffee, even I tried some coffee to get me up and running- it was ok, sort of.
We met our guide and went walking through the jungle in the dark- Like in the middle of the night dark! We need to put a flashlight in my safety pack.
It felt like we walked through the jungle in the dark for a whole hour but mom said it was only a half hour. It was scary being in the dark in the middle of the jungle. We walked all the way to temple 4 it is the tallest one. We climbed all the way up and had our breakfast in the dark. Then we waited for the sun to come out, we could hear lots of parrots and howler monkeys! It was pretty good when the sun came out you could see lots of the forest and the other temples.

the cieba tree are hugemungous the mayans believed they reached from heaven with the branches and to the underworld with the roots.

There are monkeys everywhere in the park.

they could call it monkey park

The wild turkeys are really bright.

The tourist tree is red and it peels

can you see the parrot

We walked and walked and climbed and climbed and walked some more today!
Tikal is amazing it is the biggest ruins we have been to, it is like a city. They said that the Mayans lived here from 600bc - 900ad. The city is more than 16 square kilometers which is a lot of walking!

See the toucan

There is a guy hanging out with the door open because the taxi is so full!

Boarder crossing

Adam was excited!
Bye Bye Guatemala!

  1. Hey there Ezra. Another great post! It is so amazing that you are getting to experience all these incredible places. Lucky you. Those wild turkeys gave beautiful feathers. I wonder what the tuekeys would taste like. Hope you had a good time while Isaac and your Mom were diving. I bet you were excited when they returned. I am sure they have exciting stories to tell about the diving. Ihope the sand flues have gone away. I am still scratching from them :(
Now you will be getting ready for even more adventures. I can hardly wait to hear about them. Keep on blogging buddy. Love you.

  2. Wow! Quite an adventure you're all having. The caves remind me of The Goonies movie... it's a movie from when I was a kid. You've maybe seen it. I can't imagine walking through the jungle in the dark. Just reading about it turned my tummy a bit. You're very brave to be experiencing all of these new things!

Thanks for writing the blog. I enjoy reading it!
