Hopkins

Hopkins
We stayed at Hopkins for 2 months! We did lots and lots and lots of school work here. I got to bike ride and go swimming everyday. That was pretty good but it was boring at Hopkins doing school work all the time and there were no kids where we were.
We stayed on the beach it was fancy and had an amazing view of the ocean.

We were in Hopkins for Christmas, it was different we decided that we will not go away for Christmas again it felt weird!

New years was way better we picked up Grandma Baker from the airport and then we went to Liberty to visit. We got to take Nelson with us to the movies we went to Star Wars it was awesome! I had nachos

It is orange picking season.

Orange Pickers

Houses for the workers
they don't look that nice

that gets filled with oranges the trucks go underneath to get filled up
We went to Dangriga today on the bus we had to go to the immigration office to renew our tourist card. We got to have mini tacos for breakfast they are spicy and good I like the corn tortillas ones the best. Sorry auntie Rachel we forgot to take pictures again.

We went for a walk around Dangriga to find the drum maker Austin Rodriguez. He has been making drums for 50 years he is 83 years old and does not use a cane he has aged well! WOW

We watched Austin make Grandma Baker a drum she is very happy with it.

Next to the drum maker place there was a man and a young boy and a cat they were net fishing.

We went to the Garifuna museum just outside of Dangriga. I learned Garifuna people came from African and Arawak people. The African people were on a ship that sank by St. Vincent. Some of the African slaves made it to shore where the Arawak people lived. Their kids were the start of the Garifuna people. A lot of Garifuna people live in southern Belize. They have their own culture dancing, language, clothes and music, the music has a lot of drums. Thomas Vincent Ramos was important because he fought for the Garifuna people to get them rights in Belize. They even have their own flag it is black, white and yellow. Black is for struggling, white is for peace and yellow is for hope.

We went to driftwood beach bar and pizza shack. We had a cheese pizza and sweet and spicy wings mmm good. We went on drum night. On Tuesday nights they have Garifuna music, I didn't understand what they were singing, Garifuna is African, English, Spanish and some French all mixed together it is called Creole. The music was very very good but was too loud. There was 1 singer, 3 drummers and 2 maraca players, I was one of the maraca players! Awesome!

We went snorkeling with Grandma Baker It was a great time
lunch break

Dad and Colleen came down to visit us in Belize. Guess What... My Granny Came down for a surprise. It was a great surprise! We went to the maya centre and made chocolate it is hard work! We also went to some Mayan ruins! At night we went on a boat to see the bioluminescence plankton it was scary and amazing. Adam was scaring me by hitting the boat and making noises saying the crocodiles were going to get us.

Placencia

Mom and Isaac went diving... Scuba diving for 2 weeks! They had a great time but I worried and missed them a lot.

The coxcomb park is AMAZInG!  I loved it! There was a old plane wreak we took funny pictures at it.
We hiked 9 km in the park and we went river tubing. It took a long time to tube down the river and I got nervous and started worrying that we missed the exit. We made it to the end and I felt way better.

Good view it was a hard hike up the mountain

More of Belize

a big fence around most of the prison
the prison doesn't have a big fence on this side, Mom says Belize is a strange place

Good bye Belize I can't believe we are leaving tomorrow! We were here for 4 1/2 months.
I loved it
I had a good time and learned a lot! I hope I come back to San Ignacio to see the Marin's & Barzakh Falah.
