Ollantaytambo
We were in Ollantaytambo for 8or9 days in the hostel the doors were really short the incas were not tall at all the roads are all made of stone. The houses are made of stone and clay it looks awesome!!!!!! all the houses have a little court yard, it felt very cold because we came from the jungle. The first day we hiked up a small mountain and climbed up 300m!
Pisac
When we went to Pisac it was very rainy and we got a taxi to take us to the top. We had a plan to go to the top and hike to the bottom but it was to rainy and the path was closed so we didn't walk down.
Moray
Is a archaeological site and has 250 different plant species. The incas brought a lot of different types of soil to plant different kinds of crops the different levels have different temperatures. It looks like a big bowl.
Maras
Are salt flats, every pit of salt is 11.80 inches deep. Every flat is past on by ancestor and if there is a flat open you can take it and use its salt.
Tambomachay
Tambomachay is 6miles from Cusco. Tampu means accommodation and machay means resting place. When we got there we heard that it had a hot spring but when we looked there was no hot spring? It has dried up. It was a fortress and it had lots of animals for hunting.
Qenqo
On the outside it looks like a pile of rocks but when you go up close you find a cave. Underneath all the rocks there is an underground chamber with a funeral table. They used it for sacrifices to the gods and to make mummies.
Saqsayhuaman
We went to saqsayhuaman today we got a taxi to take us up and we got a tour guide it was 45mins long and we saw a rock 125 tons and 7m high, WOW that's big. We got to see Cusco from above it was awesome!!!!! my mom got a photograph of the circle of stones that used to be a royal house by standing on a pole and Kevin helped too.
Pikillacta
When we got to Pikillacta we thought there was only a little bit of stone. But we walked up the hills to check it out anyways. We were glad we did because it was really really big! They had lots of walls that looked like fortress walls that went all the way around. It looked like a square circling a square circling a square. There are lots of buildings and rooms. They didn't have have any signs so we thought it was a fortress but we were wrong it was a religious place.
Tipon
We took a bus to Tipon and then got a taxi to take us up the mountain in a big van. Tipon was big too with awesome intricate water fountains and we ate liverwurst sandwiches Hmm yum. It was very wet so when we ate we sat under a tarp.
Chinchero
We went to chinchero today it was awesome and I got a orange and black sweater, its is a church with a lot of gold it looks cool. The ceilings were all painted and looked pretty!
Cusco
Is awesome were staying in a hostel named the dragonfly the people there are nice and I like the rooms. Did you know that Cusco was the shape of the puma and sacsayhuaman is the head and there are two rivers that makes the back and front but they are both covered by stone now and Cusco is now to big. Cusco was spelt Qosqo not Cusco and Qosqo means Belly button because Cusco is in the middle of Chile and Colombia. There were 14 different Inca rulers, Manco Qhapac was the first Ica ruler in about 1200ad.
Pachakuteq was the 9th ruler in 1450 and was the best ruler because he expanded the Inca world. He is the ruler who built Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachy, Machu Picchu and other religious places. He also made rules to keep order and keep things going smoothly.
Ama sua - do not steal
Ama llulla - do not lie
Ama wells - do not be lazy
The last Inca ruler was Tupac Amara he was the last of the royal family. He tried to rule his people from the jungle while hiding from the Spanish he died at Vilcabamba in 1572
Before the Incas South America had lots of different tribes that ruled Wari, Tiwanaku, Nasca, Moche and even more.
The Spanish came and started to take over in 1532.
In Peru people speak Quechua, Spanish, English and Aymara.
In Cusco there is a church called Saint Domingo that is built on top of El Qorikancha the Inca sun temple! When the Spanish conquered places they would build on top of the places they destroyed.
El Qorikancha was very important to the Incas. The incas built the sun temple to worshiped the sun god, did you know the reason the incas loved gold it is because gold looked like the sun they called it the Suns tears. All the walls are inclined at a 14 degree angle this helps the walls this helps during an earthquake. The top of the walls had a gold cap and I think it would of looked cool.
