San Ignacio and the Barzakh Falh project
November 22, 2015
I am at San Ignacio at the volunteer home. I'm going to have all my meals at the owners house. The kids names are Yazarrah she is 5, Jasmin she is 10, Leo is 12 and Zena is 16 the adults are Nancy and Jaime, everyone is very nice and funny, Mrs. Marin (Nancy) made pancakes for breakfast they were really good. Nancy is a social worker and organizes the project and Jaime is an architect and is in charge of the building. Today we went to Cahel Pech, it is a Mayan ruin we learned a lot about the Mayan way of life. There were two BIG GINORMOUS HILLS we had to walk up to get there so we got cake on the way down. :) Adam got a hat made out of coconut leaves from a guy in the park.

November 23
Today we went to the farm to build. It was very muddy and wet Mr Marin drove us. Me, Isaac and Kevin mixed up concrete you need 6 - 5 gallon pails of sand and 100 pounds of cement. You mix the sand and cement together, make a crater and fill it with water and mix it all together. The longer you work the heavier it feels. That got spread on the walls. Mom made white wash you mix lime and cement and water to make the white wash plaster then she puts it on the walls. Then it was lunch after lunch we painted and spread some more. At the end of the day Adam chased geese and we went home. Mrs. Marin made Belizean food for supper it was split pea and pig tail stew, it was good!
Today we got to work, afterwards we went to lunch and.... It was good. We worked after lunch too. For supper we walked the same big hill we walked up when we went to Cahal Pech, whew it's tiring we had more Belizean food called salbutes, they are like a puffy corn tortilla with chicken and salsa on them. Excellanta!
November 27
The inside and outside of the kitchen building is all most done. We finished white washing the inside, Lunes we will be done the outside. I got to go on the roof with a kid named Danall we played football (soccer) with a bottle he is teaching me Spanish and I'm teaching him English. Estoy aprendo piquito espanol. Isaac and Adam got to go with Leo and Zena to a film viewing without me it was just for the big kids :(
Sabado de Noviembre 28th
We went to xuantanich (x-tuna-sandwich) today, it was very tall and interesting. It was like a maze climbing to the top. I was scared when my brothers tried to throw me off! It is pretty tall you can see all of the ruins and hills and trees and Guatemala too. The ruins are right next to Guatemala so there were lots of broader crossing guards they have very cool, scary looking guns. They look like army guys. Isaac and Adam went to a metal concert with Zina I didn't get to go to that either :(

I went to a birthday party with Jasmin, Leo and Yazarrah no Isaac and Adam :) it was Jasmin's friend Nicky's Birthday I had a fun time, we had lunch and there was a piñata a treasure hunt and cake!
Martes Diciembre 1st
Jasmin came out to the farm with us and helped work. We went to the tree house after lunch it is pretty big, they have really good trees here for it, I had a lot a fun with her. Adam learned that you should kick stuff that has been outside for a long time because we found a bunch of toads and a tarantula under the wood. The tarantula wasn't very concerned about us he just walked off. We moved a lot of clay today.

Miercoles Diciembre dos
Leo came to the farm today to help work but we ran out of cement so we didn't get much done. Instead we chucked rocks at a pole, (I Won) climbed the hills and picked fruit and lots of limes. Tomorrow and the next couple of days we will put in the earthen floor it will be hard work.

I went to another birthday party with Jasmin. It was a party for Nathan we played in the pool and made a movie, robo friends the skit- Leo was the director.

Lunes, Diciembre siete
We had to go to Belmopan to renew our tourist card because the immigration guy at the boarder was not happy and only gave us 3 days. Belmopan was very busy at the immigration office. We went over the market and had a good lunch of burritos and sulbutes. Mmm mucho bien!

When we got back we celebrated Hanukkah with the Marins it was really good.
We are building walls for the big dorm.

It was our last day at the building project we got to plant a vine next to the kitchen. I am very sad we are leaving.....
Wow. So many adventures. Love the video. You made a great wvil robot scientist. I really enjoyed seeing all the kds you have been talking about. BTW ask your mom about the videos she made for school.
ReplyDeleteThe building sounds lke a massive amount of work. Heavy hard work. I am glad you are enjoying the food. And I hope you will help me with my Spanish. You have been to so many amazing places and met such great people. Just think only 4 more sleeps until Christmas and only 10 mire sleeps until we are together. I can hardly wait. I love you. Keep up the good work on your blog.
